Back on the RUN!

Yeah, I know...I said I was gonna blog more often and, well, I fell down on the job again.

It has been at least 8 months since I got to say, "I went for a run this morning..." and today I just might say it ALL DAY LONG! Yeah, look out, I'm a runner...I made it all the way around Green Lake this morning (that's 3 full miles) without stopping/walking...and in less than 30 minutes. What could have been viewed as a pansy rest day a couple years ago is now a major win.

I'm thinking what may have helped to make this possible in a wierd kind of way is that I've been sick as a dog this week...I lost my voice on Saturday and have been coughing, snotting, and slogging around with low energy all week (and, of course, gave the crud to Seujan, winning me lots of girlfriend points). Anyway, I've barely worked out this week--yesterday I walked downtown and feared I might not make it back up the hill without laying on the sidewalk-- so maybe the inactivity (and the Aleve I took for my pounding headaches) gave the dysfunctional hamstring more rest than usual? I was mostly concerned with the coughing, spitting, "farmer's blowing," and trying to breath without wheezing this morning, so the hamstring was kinda in the background. Whatever, I'll take it...and I guess I'll see later whether or not I'll pay for it.

In unrelated news, I'm slowly building up the massage practice...I'm now doing massage on Mondays/Fridays at Seattle Fitness gym downtown and am trying to network and build a client base for the space I'm sharing with my friend (the acupuncture guru, Monica) in Wallingford. Last weekend, I did several hours of volunteer sports massage for a team at the MS 150 bike ride (way fun!) and on Tuesday, I did 4 massages at the "Massage for the Cure" event at Massage Envy. I was fighting the cold and praying I wasn't contagious for that one and, even after being embarrassed and apologetic for coughing on my first client, she asked for my business card, so I guess I did OK. I haven't received any "Dammit, you gave me your cold!" hate mail from her, so I'm hoping she might become a regular client...who knows.

I'm thinking I need to get a website up and in order, but haven't quite made that happen yet...
