Payback spin

Since last night's computrainer class made me feel like Wussy McWussington (sidebar: Karen D. told me this morning she thought it was too easy, too, but thought it was just the course he made up), I figured the "optional bike" on today's calendar was no longer optional. I got in a good spin class at lunchtime and received the butt-kicking I expected yesterday...worked the intervals pretty hard as penance for yesterday's walk in the park. Also had a good swim this morning...it was just Mackenzie and me in the lane today. She's a much stronger swimmer than I am and she usually kicks my butt, but she's had a couple weeks off and it was her first day back, so I got to lead while she lamented about how hard it is on the first day back...I'm sure she'll be back at the front by next week.

In unrelated excellent news, one of my best pals in the whole world, Shemille, told me this morning that she booked flights to come visit me this weekend from Baltimore. For someone who's had a rough couple of months (that'd be me), this is the equivalent of calling in the friendship cavalry and I am more than happy she's headed west. Sounds like she's taking a timeout from some substantial job-related stress, so I think some hangin' out like old times might be good medicine for both of us. I'm not sure how exactly a house guest will fit in the shoebox, but I guess we'll find a human shoehorn of some sort...

Swim:
3100 yards

Spin:
49ish minutes
Avg HR = 137
Max HR = 155

In times like these
In times like those
What will be will be
And so it goes
And it always goes on and on...
On and on it goes

And there has always been laughing, crying, birth, and dying
Boys and girls with hearts that take and give and break
And heal and grow and recreate and raise and nurture
But then hurt from time to time like these
And times like those
And what will be will be
And so it goes

And there will always be stop and go and fast and slow
Action,Reaction, sticks and stones and broken bones
Those for peace and those for war
And god bless these ones, not those ones
But these ones made times like these
And times like those
What will be will be
And so it goes
And it always goes on and on...
On and on it goes

But somehow I know it won't be the same
Somehow I know it will never be the same.
